A face lift procedure will not be able to stop this process, but it is capable of “turning back the hands of time.” A face lift (technically called a rhytidectomy) was created to reduce many of the heavy folds and wrinkles of a person’s neck and face. The procedure will also improve the contour of a person’s necklines and jaw. However, a rhytidectomy will not be able to completely removed every fold, wrinkle, and line. There is a limited amount of improvement around the eyes and with fine lines of the facial skin. A face lift alone will not be able to improve “smoker’s” lines around the mouth, acne scars, or poor complexion. Other options are available to treat these various problems including chemical peels, dermabrasion, and laser treatment.
