January 28th, 2010botox, Injectables, skin rejuvenation, skin treatment, wrinklesWhose idea was it to squirt botulism into someone’s face to cure wrinkles?
Does it really sound that much stranger than using bread mold to fight infection? Naturally it’s not as simple as directly injecting canned yams gone bad.Plastic surgeon Amir Karam of Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery explains, “Botox® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum bacteria that decreases the activity of wrinkle-forming muscles.” The use of this protein started out as a treatment for face and neck muscle spasms. Like so many other discoveries, the protein’s usefulness in treating wrinkles was noticed as a side effect.
The botulinum protein works by inhibiting the receipt of neurotransmitters by nerve terminals for the wrinkling muscles. A Botox® injection technique using a few mere drops with a small needle is enough to be effective for several months.

According to Dr. Placik, a Chicago plastic surgeon, they may suffer from back and neck pain, irritation under the breasts and soreness where brassiere straps cut into their shoulders. Also, these women could be very self-conscious about the size of their breasts. Furthermore, it may be difficult for them to find attractive clothing that fits properly; sometimes it is necessary to buy costly custom-made clothing and supportive garments. For these women, a breast reduction may be necessary.

February 5th, 2009Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, botox, InjectablesThe American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ranked BOTOX® Cosmetic as the most popular physician-administered aesthetic procedure in the United States for the fourth year in a row.
Botox® is used to treat unwanted wrinkles on the face and neck. Botox is used to treat dynamic wrinkles (motion wrinkles). These wrinkles are caused by contraction of the facial muscles. After time, this repeated muscle contractions results in permanent wrinkles (static wrinkles). Static wrinkles are defined as lines and creases that remain on the skin even when the face is not moving. Botox has revolutionized our ability to treat dynamic wrinkles of the face.

November 20th, 2008botox, california, cosmetic surgery, injectionThe beauty of a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is that it’s a simple, 10-minute, non-surgical process. Treatment consists of a few tiny injections of very low dosage, made through a very fine needle, directly into the appropriate muscles. Results may vary. And there’s no recovery time. You can even do it on your lunch break. You can request that the area be desensitized with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to beginning, though most patients experience only brief mild discomfort. The process takes only about ten minutes, and a noticeable improvement in your frown lines appears within a few days. The results generally last around four to six months, after which time the injections can be repeated.
I never knew Botox Injections were so simple. Has anyone ever had them before? -
